I've talked myself into at least trying it. The kibble size pushed me over the edge. I called the local store I usually buy their food from and they're going to get me a 5 pound bag of the duck and pear in. If we all like it, they will start carrying the bigger bag for me. :) |
Nice- Thanks Britt!! That does look way smaller than the Ranchland- Thinner too!! Yeay I am so excited to get the Lamb and Apple- :D |

I was just catching up on the Posts in this Thread. You all are cracking me up. So, I have a confession. When Riley was a pup, I sat and Cut one of the Small bags of Acana for him....not the 5 pounder, but the small bags i think they are a little under 1 pound. I did what you do, Deanna. I sat and watched tv and cut....cut....cut. I don't have to do that anymore....or actually maybe i should. LOL!!!! It would definitely be easier for him to eat that way. :D |

Can anyone tell me where they purchase the Duck and Pear or the Lamb and Apple from? I saw it on Amazon and it was almost $25 for a 5lb bag. Thanks! |

If you want to order online, MrChewy has good prices and free shipping if you spent over $50, I think it is. They also have deals a lot! |

she get 1/3 cup acana a day with Weluva checkin so I do cut and divide to 3 bags with 3 1tsp each Weluva checkin in small container for her daily food..... if I give her whole size one ... she push Acana kible with her little tiny nose on the side... spoiled! :p: |
Mickey and Max are eating the Duck & Pear now. They love it. They ate 4 (5lb) bags of the Lamb & Apple before I changed to Duck & Pear. I only changed for some variety. :animal36 They LOVE these 2 flavors. I think Mickey is having less eye goop on both of these types. Especially the Duck. Ditto on Mr. Chewys. They have a good price (what I pay here at a store). Shipping seems fair to me. I think it is $5 for less than $50 and then it is free. When you know your dog likes it buy the bigger bag or 3 small ones and it is shipped free. |
Update We started our first bag of the Duck and Pear last Friday and the little ones really seem to like it. It is noticeably larger than the NV kibble they've been eating though, and I think Dolly may struggle with that. Right now I'm only mixing in a small amount with their NV so it's kind of hard to tell which kind of kibble she's picked up to chew on. I'll find a way to test for sure how she manages the Acana....it may be soft enough that her tiny mouth can chew it alright. |

Got A Bag Of Duck & Bartlett Pear Riley's Acana/Pacific was getting low so I emailed a couple of the boutiques near my house that I know carry Acana to see if they had any of the Small Trial size bags of the Duck & Bartlett Pear. The one closest to my house had them, so I picked one up on my way home. Riley seemed to like it. He ate it all right up, plain. It only has one grain, Steel Cut Oats. I hope he does well on it!! I have still been feeding the Nature's Variety premade raw, the organic chicken in the mornings, and he has been doing Awesome!! |
So I got home tonight and sat on the couch.... Riley ran into the kitchen and barked once.... I guess he wanted his new Acana Duck & Bartlett Pear! LOL!! I fixed him up a bowl with his green beans/carrot and some CocoTheraphy chips and he gobbled it all down. Something tells me he likes it!! :D |
Lol, my dad watched Jackson last night and part of today for me while I went away and he said Jackson kept carrying his plastic bowl over to him asking for more food so my dad would pour dry food in the bowl and he'd start eating.... which is sooo unusual for him, he never asks for DRY food... haha. So yes he loves it. |
Is this something that a dog predisposed to a gassy tummy might segue to once he's off G-I Rx diet? |
After a few days on the Acana Duck & Bartlett Pear... I can report that one of the things I have noticed is that Riley is pooping more. He is going 4-times a day instead of once or twice... I put him back on the Acana Pacifica and NV raw... I am using the trial size bag of duck as treats. I think I like his grain free tootsies much better. :D |
I just ordered this for my Toby after reading about it on YT. I really hope this helps Toby get back onto dry food. He's such a PICKY eater it's difficult to get him to eat any sort of regular dry dog food. *crossing fingers* |
I had looked for Acana brand at our pet food store, but they didn't carry it. I have Brisket on Grandma Mae's Country Naturals and basically have to sit on the floor with him to get him to eat, he likes to pick up the kibble and throw it and then pounce and roll on it and eat it, which was cute at first, but now takes forever when I'm trying to get him to eat a meal. I'd rather him be more interested in actually eating the food than playing with it. I took him to a friends house and he found their dogs bowl of who knows what (looked like kibbles n bits ) and scarfed it up. SO thinking I need to try something else. I went on website and no stores near me that carry it, so off to mrchewys. |

Well I went and did it :D I ordered the Acana Duck and Pear!! I should get it Friday!! Hopefully Peanut does well on it. I was going to get the Lamb and Apple, but I read that Lamb meat is fattier than red meat! It said the leanest lamb meat is fattier than a piece of red meat.... So I would love to have Peanut loose a couple pounds, so I went with the Duck. Not as fatty- so we will see what happens! |

Went at home at lunchtime and he again, rolled around on his kibble rather than ate it. Had no interest at all. So now have new food on the way! I went with Ranchland and the Lamb. :D |
