Holiday Time warning for yorkie owners Yorkies have sensitive digestive systems. According to my vet, Dawn Koetting, she sees a marked increase in collitis incidents with yorkies during the holiday season. She said from her experience with her clients, this happens because the clients allow their Yorkie to indulge in all the holiday food festivities just like their humans. The result . . . . unnecessary visits to the vets office for collitis flareups. Beware of well-intentioned guests that think that feeding your little one just a bit of goodies under the table is okay. Also beware of your young (toddler-aged) guests that like to allow more of their food to make it to your floor than into their mouth. As with my pups (my own experience), when having plenty of guests in your home, most people are not accustomed to having small dogs in their feet. Your pup may accidently get stepped on or given a swift kick sending them airborne. Putting your babies in a room that is secluded from your guests is not mean . . .. it is caring. Happy holiday season to all! Lets keep our babies out of the vet's offices unless it is absolutely necessary. :) Lisa |
" Also beware of your young (toddler-aged) guests that like to allow more of their food to make it to your floor than into their mouth." I know what you mean. When Erika is in her high chair B & J are like Baracudas swimming around an offshore platform waiting for left overs to be thrown over. Good Holiday warning. |
Sebastian does the same thing under Bryce! When Bryce is here, I have to watch my three to be sure they don't get to his food droppings too. CCC learned quickly that Bryce = snack! |
