Latte-The Soap Opera For those of you following the on-going saga of my adorable, itchy Latte, here is the latest! She has a bacterial infection on her skin, so we got an antibiotic today. She got a new food to try: Iams Rx Oat and Kangaroo and a blood draw for the VARL extended food panel. Why didn't I do the environmental allergy panel you might ask? Well, I thought and thought about it and decided that since the serum injections don't always work, and if she's allergic to cottonwood trees, for instance, I can't hardly rip out all the cottonwood trees in my neighborhood, we would stipulate (my vet and I ) that she has some environmental allergies and we would treat those seasonally. At least with the food panel, we can stop guessing about what food to give her. She is still taking thyroid supplements, the Zyrtec is working pretty well, and I'm weaning her off the prednisone. Hopefully, she won't have to have it for a long while. She is now sleeping peacefully at my feet. Fingers crossed, we have come closer today to peaceful, itch-free days. ;) |
So glad you decided to do the food testing & happy to hear she's less itchy.:animal-pa |
food testing I know-can't wait to find out--something!! I think the So Cal allergy season is almost over. Blessedly, she's sleeping better and I am soooooo glad I got the antibiotic for her skin-it got really bad! I'll let you know what the testing shows. There are 20 foods on the panel. We'll see! (p.s. It wasn't as expensive as I'd feared.) |
