poop problems!!! I have a 5 month old foster puppy who has been tested for all parasites and such he has been eating instinct puppy for about 4 weeks and he has really runny poops. I had hoped it would fim up but still runny...should I switch him again or wait to see? |
Have you tried probiotics? Maybe her system just needs help getting regular. |
yes he is on probiotics :/ |
And the vets are stumped? Hmm... I think this might be difficult. He sounds a lot like my friend's pup who had issues with runny poo. She kept trying different foods until one just worked. She took it slow and allowed her pup to try to adjust to each food. Eventually, one worked for her sensitive stomach. Now if only she could find something for her itchiness. :( |
DvlshAngel985...do you remember me? its been forever! Weirdly when I got him he had firm poop. I may need to switch I just wanted to give him time |

What was he eating before? |
Yay...I think we may be facebook friends too??? Not sure what he was eating...he really wants my dogs Acana Pacifica but Im not letting him have it. I wonder if Instinct just doesnt work with him...its been awhile since Ive had a baby but it seems he should have solidified by now. |
Yes we are FB friends. :) except for I'm bad about ever being on there and catching up. Good luck with his little one! I'm sure you'll figure it out. Just remember to keep him hydrated. (can you tell I've learned a lot over the years ;)) |
I never really meant to leave YT...I foster with yorkie rescue and also volunteered with 2 other dog rescues and a wildlife rescue and just became overwhelmed with my responsibilities with the dogs and had no time to go online. But when I have a problem I always know YT can help. |
Hopefully some of the more experienced members with fosters will chime in. It's really nice to see a familiar face, even if it's just an avatar pic. :) |
Here is my lil pooper! I cant post pics of him :( |
Have you tried fromm 4 star grain free ? My oscar has a very sensitive tummy and he does great on this food, solid firm poos.. He is 8 months @ 7 lbs & he gets 1/2 cup per day |
I wonder if I could switch him to adult food at 5 months???? |

I am new to YT and have had my little girl for about a month now. I switched her over to Wellness Just for Puppy over a period of time from Taste of the Wild that the breeder had her on. She has the same problem. All of her stools are really soft and can get all stuck to her little bottom. I'm not sure what to do, I hate having to give her more baths than necessary. Any ideas? Could it be the wellness? |

you could try a different food. blue buffalo has a limited ingredient diet called blue basics. maybe that would help settle her tummy and firm up her poos my little boy is on fromm 4 star and he does great on that.. |

Yes she has seen a vet several times. She had tapeworms but those are gone now. She has been on wellness for about 4 weeks so I figured they would've firmed up by now. The vet gave her some r/D food to add to the wellness to see if it would help. I was just wondering if anyone had the same problems with the wellness food. She eats really well now after struggling to get her to eat at all for a few weeks so I don't wanto switch food unless I have to. |

Start your own thread asking about wellness. You might get your answer that way. If you need help with that.et me know. :) |
Abby came home to us on Wellness, her poops were unformed and soft, I thought it was just her puppy-ness, she was very thin. I figured I would transition her in a few weeks to The taste of the Wild the other dogs were on- that was impossible as she stole their food and refused the wellness. I tried for a few days but gave up and just let her have the TOTW- miracle, within a day she had normal poos! We have switched to Earthborn Holistics coastal catch, since the recall-Doing fine! I would look for a food with plenty of probiotics. |
Sounds like others are having the same problem...Milo is very thin and very active...i wonder if because he runs around so much he is pooping more often than he should just from activity...who knows. I have about 2-3 more weeks of this food left and if he isnt better by then I will start trying other foods. Milo was transitioned to this food instantly so I at first thought it was that but he should be better than this at 4 weeks, Im also not giving any treats just his food. |
Ok so it sounds like it is probably the wellness. The vet gave me some r/D food to supplement the food she is already on, but after one day it made her sick and she won't eat it anymore. Looks like I need to find a new puppy food for her. |
