New food I had Max on Wellness until I heard of the recalls. I was looking for a new food to put him on but was concerned about him not eating it. Boy was I wrong! I got Blue Buffalo and started mixing with his other food to get him used to it and he is picking out the Blue Buffalo and leaving his old!!!! He keeps going to the bag of Blue Buffalo wanting more and leaving the other! He is so funny trying to get more!:D Guess I worried for nothing. |
Haha! They'll fool you every time! Glad he loves his new food! |
Well I guess the joke is on me!! While Max absolutely loves his new food, his stomach sure doesn't!!!! When we woke up this morning, there was diarrhea everywhere around the outside of his crate. UGH!!!! Not what I wanted to see 1st thing in morning. I cooked him some plain rice and before I left and DH checked on him at lunch. Still diarrhea. Called vet and she said to stay with rice today and try some food they have at office. E/N??? He is acting fine though considering he has had 2 baths in 1 day so far!! |

I was thinking of switching Riley to BB about a year or so ago.... After inquiring with a few personal friends, and neighbors, etc. I found out a few of them had pups who had digestive issues with BB. I then decided personally not to feed it. But I also know of people, on here, whose pups do fine with it. A friend of mine also sent me this: I just looked at it again and there are posts as recent as yesterday. Consumer complaints about Blue Buffalo Pet Foods Have you ever tried FROMM or Acana?? |
It could just be from the food switch..... you can try canned pumpkin. Not the pumpkin pie mix but pure pumpkin. Hoping your baby is back to normal before long... :) |

my airedale eats rx purina en when he has a flare up it works wonders... |
I personally feed Sasha the Blue Buffalo Wilderness formulas. I've always been a huge fan of the Blue Buffalo company. She has always done extremely well on this food so I've always been pleased. I do like to recommend this food but I also usually warn people that it is an extremely rich food and not all dogs can tolerate this food which seems to be the issue in your case. I hope your baby feels better soon! |
I have 4 dogs and recently switched them from TOTW to Fromm. We went through a bag of Fromm Whitefish & Potato, and now are starting on a bag of Chicken a la Veg. We have not had any problems at all. I switch my dogs' food pretty much cold turkey too. I too have seen mixed reviews about Blue Buffalo, but my son feeds it to his Morkie and loves it. We have used it a couple times before with no issues too. We just used the regular Blue Buffalo Chicken & Rice formula, as does my son. We've never tried the Wilderness formulas. |
What does everyone think of Science Diet they have been on dry and every once in a while we feed them the chucked can for puppies. So far no problems other than they want to eat their pooh and we have given them the "ForBid" but it hasn't stop it. |
What to feed a Yorkie :aimeeyorkHello everyone.. I have a question. my Yorkie is a year and is very skinny. When I bought him he was skinny, and wouldn't eat his food Pro Plan toy Breed Formula until i mixed it with Pedigree a soft food. I eventually took him off and put him on Nuto Choice which he does well with but he is not putting on any weight and his rear bones are showing.. He eats 3 times a day. Even my neighbors yorkie is plumper than mines...and they are the same height. Mines is a t-cup. how do I help him put on a little more weight...without over feeding him. |

There is no such thing as t-cup. How much is he eating at each feeding? You could give him higher calorie foods to put weight on. Not sure what you mean by over feeding  if he is underweight he needs to eat more. Has he been evaluated by his vet to make sure he is not skinny due to a medical reason. |
How many versions of Yorkies are there. I am confused now about that. My Myagi weighs about 3 lbs.. I don't want the dog to get FAT..but at the same time I don't think his tailbones should be so pronounced either. Jus skin and bone in the rear. He is eating Nutro Natural Choice toy breed adult natural chicken n whole brown rice. But it seems a trip to the vet is in order. I'm a first time owner of a dog. He has his AKC papers up on his shots. When I bought him he wouldn't eat for 3 days til I mixed his food then gradually cut back on the wet food, so now he eats just dry. very active |
All of you experineced Yorkie owner question What amount of dry food should a 3 lb and 4.5 lb Yorkie be feed per and how many times per day. What is the best food out there for them. Bentley can eat and still acts like he is hungry |

hi , to answer your question about variety. there is only one variety of yorkie, the toy group. yorkies come in all shapes and sizes but the terms tea cup , mini etc are just words that people invented to make the puppy sound more valuable when being sold. what does your vet say about your puppy weight? if he does need to gain weight you could try a good quality puppy food. Fromm is a good brand. My oscar is on that... |
