help new baby Hi everyone :) Im a new yorkie mum and im looking for some help.... My baby is now 7 weeks I got her last week so she was 6 weeks, she is a very playfull puppy ive been giving her puppy milk, mushed dry food but she eats very little is that normal? how much should a puppy at this age eat? and also what is the best food to give her? (uk) she poo about twice a day... and I have her in my living room I have training pads opposite her bed sometimes she uses it... sometimes not  I know she is too yang I want to potty train her to do in pads but I don't want to have her closed in a crate or samething I want her to be free , Please give some advice Thanks ;) |
This baby should have not been taken from her momma until she was 12 weeks old.....WAY to young when you got her. THAT being said, YOU are now momma, and YOU are her sole source of nourishment and comfort and loving and all the rest that her momma would be doing for her during her infancy. Have you ever had a Yorkie baby before? Major concern is hypoglycemia...you have to feed this baby every 3-4 hours AROUND THE CLOCK....cant just put the food down and hope she will find it and eat. You have to feed her....you need Nutri-Cal on hand for hypoglycemia...if you do not have that, Karo syrup or honey will suffice. Puppy milk, cut with Pedialyte 1:1, one raw egg YOLK, a tbsp of Karo and a little (1/2 cup) whole live culture Yogurt mixed up well, warmed to body temperature, use this to make a puppy gruel out of 1/2 can of puppy food, 1/2 cup puppy kibble ground up, 1 jar Gerber baby food (chicken is good...not real strong...or lamb)....Put all this in a blender and mix it up so it is the consistancy of a thick malt....feed this every 3-4 hours, day and night....of course, this is a jar full...you will feed maybe 1/8 - 1/4 cup...if she wont lap it up out of a saucer, you need to get a 10cc syringe with an irrigation (feeding) tip and squirt a little in her mouth....she will get used to this and start to eat....Wishing the best for your little baby....hang in there and be a wonderful momma to her since her God given momma has been taken away.... |

How is this baby doing? I hope she is okay. Six weeks is still *such* a fragile age. I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but here good breeders won't release their pups until they are 12 weeks old. Has she been to the vet yet? It'd probably be good to take her in asap, and get some solid advice on how to care for such a young pup, AND what you need to look out for in terms of danger signs in young puppies. |
Hope your baby is eating. Will keep you and your baby in my prayer's.:p Welcome to Y T. you will learn a lot from here. |

i will try to confine her in a small area I know she is to little yet but I don't want to show her that is just normal to keep peeing and poo anywhere but I don't want to punish her as well as I think she is too baby yet :( |

Keeping your baby confined is for her own safety, as well. They can get into so many deadly things when they're little. Some have even chewed electrical cords with disatrous results:( You'd be amazed what they can find to eat on the floor even in the cleanest, well kept home. She will potty train much easier as well. Be patient with her, she is very very young and would be getting lessons from her mom if she were still with her. I hope that your baby does well:) Welcome to YT!!!! |
Thanks for all reply my baby girl Bella is doing well now :) lol even wet food she will only eat if mixed up with little pieces of cooked chicken but apart of that she is doing great:thumbup: and with the potty she is doing good as well not having any mistake and if she does I will clean it up straight away and Im also teaching her some commands using a clicker and im impressed on how faster they learn!! When she see me with the clicker in hand she will just come and sit to listes the click and receive a treat (Chicken) and if I say down she will straight lie down own she is so cute im in love with her :D |
