Poor dog-poor me My poor dog is still itchy-hydrolized protein food, just weaning off a course of prednisone, baths with Ketachlor shampoo, thyroid medication for 2 weeks and still so itchy--up most of the night with her. Have tried Zyrtec and Benedryl, and lots of patience, all to no avail. The only days she scratches less are those with the 1/4 Prednisone. I will be calling her vet in the morning. It's so weird-she isn't losing hair, but scratches her belly and armpit area so much! Fortunately, she hasn't broken the skin again. And I really think her belly skin feels warm but it doesn't look red. I feel like our vet is doing everything we can, but we can't nail it down. Allergy testing may be in the offing. Any suggestions? |
Sorry to hear about your baby. My Cali had the same problem but was scratching out her hair. We tried everything you did and did the allergy testing. The testing didn't show anything she was allergic to, but vet said they can't test for every possible thing inthe environment. I talked to my vet about Atopica and she put her on it several years ago and it has been a miracle drug for her. Cleared up all but an occasional itch. I hope you can get some relief for her and you. I know Cali's scratching kept me up at night and I felt so bad for her. |
