Kibble and raw??? Well, Teaka needs to lose about 3 pounds. She is supposed to weigh 7lbs. She is on the rest of her "good" TOTW lamb. Per the vet and the recall I originally changed her food to blue buffalo wilderness healthy weight. She hated it. Wouldnt eat it at all. Today I went out and got a sample bag of Now! Senior/ weight management. Even though she isn't a senior, that's okay right?? She likes it, so I'm gonna stick with it for the time being. Anyway to my original subject I was talking to the store owner where i buy teakas food and she suggested raw. I did it before. Teaka ate Natures Variety raw lamb. She loved it, but had issues with her poops. So the store owner said I could do kibble for breakfast and raw for dinner. I know they have different digestion rates. I also know that kibble and raw together is bad for cats, but what about dogs?? I don't have to do it, it's just that I know Teaka loses weight quickly on the raw. But, I also want her to be on kibble. Any thoughts?? |
It's fine to feed kibble and raw....either at separate meals, or even together. Some will say to not ever feed it together, but that's not my opinion. The tummy doesn't know the difference btwn raw and non-raw. It just knows whether it's a carb, fat, protein, water, or toxin...and releases the correlating enzymes. When something is ready for the sm intestine, the tummy pushes that glob/portion into the sm intestine, but keeps working on the other more complex food that are still in the tummy. As things are ready, they're continuously moved forward and digested. There are different schools of thought on this, so hopefully the other folks who *don't* think raw/non-raw should be fed together will chime in so you can get a full picture and decide what might work. I feed premade raw and really love it. There are lots of Prey Model feeders here too - and they are very helpful and also love feeding their kiddos PMR. Good luck! |

It can sometimes take a few Weeks for symptoms to arise... as I am also finding out with Food Allergies. |

I feed Sasha both kibble and raw and have no issues. She gets raw for breakfast and kibble with a spoonful of canned food for dinner. She absolutely loves both and greatly looks forward to mealtimes. She's very happy, extremely active, good weight, excellent coat & her teeth look awesome as well. I still brush her teeth every other day and apply oral care gel on the days I don't brush but I swear the raw helps a little to. |

I have gone the rounds with Moses, whose nick name is Mr Finnicky! After reading the experiences with raw on this forum, I started Moses on Primal raw last Saturday. He now does a happy dance at meal time! I feed him 1 1/2 nuggets with one baby carrot and a green bean or two at breakfast, and at night, he gets 1 1/2 nuggets with about 10 kibbles (RC Yorkie) and a baby carrot. This little man has NEVER licked the bowl clean like this before! I am watching for any allergic reactions...and keep an eye out for problem poops...he seems fine, and his eyes are clear with hardly any goob! I am more optimistic than ever that i have finally hit on something good! (I have tried the chicken and beef...didn't try the lamb because of Riley's reaction to it, and Moses doesn't like duck) |
