Two batches of Solid Gold Dog Food Recalled

Just a few hours ago, Solid Gold received information that two batches of our foods were made at the Diamond Gaston plant around the same time period as some of the previously recalled foods of other brands. Though we have had zero complaints about these particular batches, we have decided to recall them as a precautionary measure. Due to the time difference between us and the appropriate FDA office, there was not enough time in the day to further discuss this voluntary recall with the FDA. We are announcing this now because we know our customers are concerned and didn�t want an entire night to go by without this information being available to the public. Tomorrow morning (May 8th), after speaking with the FDA, Solid Gold will officially institute a voluntary recall of two batches of food made at the Diamond Gaston facility.
The following products will be part of this voluntary precautionary recall. Only the two foods with this particular best before date and batch code will be part of the recall.

Solid Gold WolfCub Large Breed Puppy Food
All Sizes
Best before December 30, 2012

No other Solid Gold products are affected.

What is going on with all these recalls.. :confused:

These seem to be for big dogs. The recalls are all out of the South Carolina plant.

Any company that buys anything that has been through there has to recall as well, I think. It's crazy!

I can't tell you how many recalls I've seen just since I've had Kacee. That is one reason I also feed her chicken breast and sometimes turkey along with her kibble.

I think that is smart! It's hard enough to trust the quality and safety of human products, much less dog food.

Seems like this is getting BIGGER ever day. It is very scary. Now people who have handled these food are getting sick as well. Perhaps now that humans are involved-the FDA will finally do womething. My babys are my family.

Yes, this Diamond recall (and other brands that they manufacture) is big! The CDC has confirmed at least 14 cases of people getting salmonella poisoning from handling the affected dog food. So not only are our pets in danger, but pet owners are too!

Growing up we always had dogs. We fed them what we eat because we didn't have all these different kinds of food etc. for them. We never had problems like we have today. Should tell us something. It scares me to death too because these are my babies and I don't want them sick and eating crap. I think some of these companies need to be put out of business. My dh was telling me of something that Proctor & Gamble was buying to put in the dog food and I thought I would die. Not saying what it is, it would gross you out.
