How much does your yorkie eat? Up until a month ago I had two dogs :( Georgie my schnoodle and Chloe my Yorkie. It was impossible to feed them seperately so I never really knew how much eat dog was eating. Georgie was about 25 pounds and Chloe is 6. Well I was so shocked at how little Chloe eats!!! I filled her bowl three days ago and she still has food. Chloe is one of those dogs that only eats to full never overeating as her weight is great and I always filled the bowls when I had the two pups. I am going to measure out half a cup and see how long it takes for her to eat it but I am wondering if anyone feeds their yorkie a set amount and how much does your dog eat in one day? Also I feed her good quality food she is currently on nutrience but I am in the process of switching her over to Arcana small breed. Thanks so much for any info you can give me :) Tina :) |

My oscar is almost 8 months and 7 pounds and he gets 1/4 twice per day. |
Georgie eats about 1/4 a cup twice a day (mix of wet and dry). We don't free feed he eats in the morning and evening along with our Boxer. There are times that he doesn't eat it all but for the most part he does. It's worked great for us. |
My Prada who is 14 pounds and almost 4 years old eats 3/4 of a cup of wet and kibble a day divided in 2 feedings one in the morning and one in the evening. hugs, |

When comparing how much individual dogs eat, keep in mind that different dog foods have different calorie/fat measurements per cup. My boys eat a food that has 380 calories per cup, so they eat 3/4 cup total a day. They are 8.4 and 9.0 pounds. |
For the most part I free feed because Callie is such a picker and never eats a lot at one time. |
Taycie eats 1/4 Cup A.M and P.M with a Tablespoon or Two of wet mixed in. Lately she hasn't been finishing it all up so I have been taking some of her dry food out of the measuring cup and setting it aside for treats. I like doing this too especially on the days where we are on lazy side so I don't give her too many extra calories but she still feels like she is getting a treat:) I think she is finally pacing herself when before she never would.. For the longest time she would just scarf whatever I put down. |
I give mine each a 1/4 of a cup of dry and a tablespoon of wet mixed in in the AM and again in the PM. Piper scarfs down her food...Teddy likes to pace himself. I feed them separately because my little chunky monkey Piper would steal Teddy's food if I fed them together. |
Hailey at 4 months old gets about 1/2 cup total throughout the day. sometimes more depending on how hungry she is. |
Zoe is almost 5 months old and until just recently she would seldom eat more than 1/4 cup per day along with 1/2 teaspoon yogurt to even get her to eat that. She weighs a little over 3 lbs and is very active. We go for a two mile walk every day and she has lots of play time. I was really worried about her thinking she wasn't eating enough, but I have had her to the vet 3 times in the last 6 weeks and she has gained weight every time and the vet says she is very healthy. She recently graduated up to 1/3 cup per day. I am feeding her Orijen. She is really picky and doesn't even like canned food mixed in with it. |
Thanks so much guys :) I will be sure to throw out any food left at the end of the day. Thought dry was fine to leave in the bowl till eaten. I actually counted the number of pieces of kibble so that I can see if she eats any lol. She is fine tho active and playful maybe a bit more of a cuddler the last couple weeks but she is my little shadow anyways. I keep thinking that she isnt eating enough tho. Is it possible for a dog to suddenly decide that they no longer like their dog food? |
Bayleigh is 2 1/2 and weighs 6.5 lbs. I feed her twice a day at just under 1/4 cup each feeding. I also have a maltese that weighs the same and eats the same. |
I also worry my pups dont eat enough especially Molly. She seems to pick a few pieces of ki ble then leave the rest sometimes she doesnt eat any. I make a game of it and throw or roll thd kibble across the floor she eventually starts chasing it and eats it when she catches it. |
I feed a mixture of raw and kibble. In the morning, Sasha gets Primal raw (1 1/2 nuggets) for breakfast. For dinner, she gets 1/8 cup of kibble (Blue Buffalo Wilderness) mixed with a spoonful of canned. The canned is something new that we started a few weeks ago because she began turning her nose up at the kibble, but I knew she was hungry since she was throwing up bile. Adding a spoonful of canned has helped ever since. |

So how old is Chloe? Could it be she is sad because Georgie is gone? You mentioned her weight is great so maybe she was eating more before you lost Georgie. Sheldon is a big eater but he went from 3/4 of a cup to 1/2 a cup after he turned 5 months. I think he was going through a growth spurt. |
