Canine Caviar has some great formulas. Acana now has a Singles line which is LID (only one grain - oats).

No, no testing but he has been itchy since we brought him home and he has been on Now food since then. The lady at the pet store pointed out that I am giving treats that contains grains. They are tiny tiny and he gets them when he goes wee wee and when we are teaching him tricks.
Busy buddy berries treats are the ones.

Thank you! I was searching online and found this food and was wondering if anyone here fed it to their doggies. It does come in a pretty large bag though.

Which one?

I've been feeding Acana Singles with great luck. His poops have never been better for one, LOL. But he really seems to do great on it in all regards, but he never showed any food allergies as far as I know. I just prefer to keep things a bit simpler maybe.

Btw, what about any of the Go! foods? They have the Sensitivity and Shine foods meant for those with food allergies or intolerance's. I've also had great luck with their food in the past and will probably get one of them for our rotation.

I was talking about the canine caviar. Does it come in a smaller that 12 lbs bag?

I guess I never looked into the go food. Is that grain free?

Watch for chicken. I had a dog allergic to chicken and lots of them are. I feed Fromm grain free and the beef has no chicken products in.

We also feed Fromm grain free. My 3 love the Surf & Turf and also the Beef Fritata. Both are grain free and there is no issue switching from one to the other, giving them a little bit of a variety. :)

There are many things dogs can be allergic too some food, some environmental allergies, some grass no matter what time of the year, some allergic to human dander, and some allergic to dust. I am sure there is more dogs can be allergic too I just don't know them all. I am not sure how your weather was this year but ours was mild and Callie had her first environmental breakout of this year in February. I imagine if he has been on the same food sense January it could be the food and with out allergy testing the cheapest thing to experiment with is his food. When Callie had her first outbreak my vet suggest a prescription hypoallergenic food to try and if it seemed to work then we would know it was food related and try more food tests but she was still itchy on the food so we stopped using the prescription food. Does your vet have any food like that you could try?

My vet we could put him on prescription food, one of the food she mentioned was purina, I don't remember the rest. She said it was expensive but I didn't ask her how much. His food is 24 bucks for 6 lbs, is that comparable?

I would not use Purina because they own the waggin train jerky that is killing lots of dogs. I guess try switching the food and if it doesn't work then you know its probably not food related. I know the Blue buffalo also had a limited ingredient diet called basic and they have one for small breeds. Please keep us up dated I would really like to know how it goes.

I just adopted a 4 year old Yorkie who has allergies. The vet wants her on a prescription dog food. So we are trying that for 6-8 weeks. She said the allergy can be from a protein also..., chicken, beef etc. I had to change her heartworm from a pill that is beef to a topical. She is definitely itching less.., she went from a 10 down to a 4 as far as the itching goes. My vet specializes in dermatology so I hope it works.
