Neuter @ 2 years old Hello Hello!! Hope all is well with everyone!! We are about to neuter our two year old yorkie and are having a diffivcult time getting some answers. Many ppl say he should have been neutered as a puppy, however, we were having missed thoughts about it. Now that the time is nearing for his surgery, we just want to make sure that it is still necessary to have this done.. how is the healing process? what is a decent price to pay? we are being quoted about $670.. please help! |
I had Charlie neutered at 3 years and he recovered just fine. He was well within a week and just groggy the first day. He was back to his little ole self the next day. It only cost me about $75 but I did it during the time of spay and neutering is cheapest here in Alabama. |
We had Georgie neutered at 3 years old I don't think 2 years old is to old. I don't even know if any age is to old it's in the furbabies best interest to be neutered. We waited to so long because I am a nervous nelly;) $670 seems high but I am not sure about the cost in Canada. We paid $300 for Georgie. I forgot to mention Georgie recovered well:) |
waaayyy too high!! try brimley lawrence animal clinic or birchmount animal clinic...both in Scarborough! I was quoted less than half that at Brimley. Check around..it should never be close to 700.00! |
It's about $300 where I live, but I don't know what a fair price in Canada would be. My male Yorkie recovered very fast from his neuter, it doesn't seem to affect them as much as a spay does for a female. I think the main reason to get it done as a puppy is to prevent bad habits from forming, like humping and marking. |
I have my older males neuter and they cost 85.00 and did just fine. This is in Olkhoma. |

That is very pricey even for Toronto. Check for low cost spay and neuter clinics - |
Whether or not you do it is really totally up to you. Is your kiddo marking or anything, is that why you're considering it now? The healing process it not bad at all! They snap back w/in a day. I do insist on pain meds for my kiddos after any surgery though, no matter what...so I'd recommend that for sure. |
