HELP! My 5 year old Yorkie has bloody stools! My 5 year old, 5 pound male Yorkie got a hold of a pork steak. A pretty big portion. This was 3 days ago, he is now vomiting, very gassy, loose bloody stools. We will not be home until Tuesday night. What should I do, I am a truck driver and can not just put him in a vet that is 800 miles from home. Will he be ok until I get him to my own vet? Is there anything I can do? I am very concerned and have heard of horror stories of pork and yorkies. I do not want to lose my dog.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimee york:aimeeyork:cry: |
somehow you need to get him to a vet ASAP. I understand that you're on the road but this is not something to mess around with. he needs fluids to replace what he's losing and something to stop the vomiting and diarrhea before he gets any more dehydrated. |
I agree with My Sophia, dehydration is very serious. Joey's gotten sick over the weekend before and I take him to an emergency vet, I'm sure you can find one available. With the proper medicine you Yorkie has a chance for a very fast recovery, without it, he may not make it. |
You really need to get your baby some help right away. You don't want this turning into pancreatitis. When my Betty Boop was about 1 year old, I fed her some deli ham and she developed the same symptoms as your baby has now. I didn't know not to feed her fatty and processed meats, like ham. I took her to the vet just in time or it would have turned into pancreatitis. He gave her something to stop the diarrhea and to soothe her stomach, and also some antibiotics. This is something you don't want to happen. Please keep us updated on your baby's situation. |
I agree, get to a vet or ER hosp ASAP. It sounds like it could already be pancreatitis & pancreatitis will kill your pup without treatment. |
Please take him to a vet now. He has lost a lot of fluid, is probably low on glucose and many other things and could have a bad bug or serious illness. Plus, he probably needs to be on antibiotics and antiemetic, have blood work. |
Thanks for the advise We are on our way to an er vet. Thank you for the info. Will post on how he is holding up! |
Oh, bless your heart! Please let us know how the little guy is feeling as soon as you can. I'll bet the vet will have him feeling better soon. I will add you guys to my prayer list and hope your traveling boy is resting comfortably after treatment tonight. |
Just seeing this. Hope he is okay. |
So glad you are getting him to a vet. This sounds exactly like Rosie's last incident. She needed antibiotics and they also gave her a shot to help with the vomiting. She was ok after the vet took her. I only had to leave her for a few hours and then I was able to pick her back up. Please keep us posted on your little one. |
I am praying for your baby. |
Do you have an update for us yet ? I hope your baby is OK . |
Please update, I hope you little boy is fine, but it's always so scary when people don't update. |

The hydration isn't so scary to me if he is drinking water and staying hydrated, the bloody stool is what scares me. Get a fecal test. Any vet can do it, it should only be $15-$25. |
