Time To Buy The Flea/Tick Meds (Sentry Natural Defense?) Mine use Frontline Plus and never had any issues with it, I split the dose between the two. We start usually Mid April and end Mid October, usually after the first frost. I'm really tired of putting chemicals on my babies and was looking for an alternative. I've been reading mixed reviews on Sentry Natural Defense. I like the fact that it is "natural" but, it seems iffy if the product works at all. Anyone here try it? |
I just started splitting the tube between my two dogs, and am hopeful it works. I don't like using the chemicals either, but my vet has reassured me that the Plus is safe. I hope so. Good luck. Will be interested in reading other comments. |
i am trying a natural approach. previous i posted a natural reciepe and opinion was it would be too strong so instead after doing my online research to be sure this oil would not be toxic to my babies.....i am using only 10 drops of pure essetial lavender oil with a full squirt bottle of water and applying it each time they go out. so far so good no reactions and they seem to be staying flea and tick free and we had some really warm days. only downside is you cannot use lavender on cats it is toxic to felines and you have to spray it on the dogs each time they go out. but cedric did not get sick or larthagic or have any reactions to this reciepe. now i just need to find a natural solution for my cats. hope you find a good solution that works for you. |
I use front line... Never had any issues. But I also treat my yard for bugs/ticks. I was thinking about using the heart worm/flea oral.. But Corky has tummy issues. |
We are using Vectra 3D right now. I too am splitting it between the two girls. Honestly, would like to find something that repels ticks. Vectra kills them AFTER they bite. :(:( |
I've used it... My baby boy is very sensitive, and actually started to have seizures after his 3rd dose of Frontline. I took him off and then was trying all the natural stuff i could find. I did try Sentry Natural Defense last year (after I noticed he had fleas) and it did nothing (not sure if it would work to prevent them in the first place). We gave him flea baths, sprayed him with Flee Flea natural spray. The only thing that got rid of them was soapy water and a comb. You wet the comb, and then brush the flea and take them out one by one. =0( It was horrible. To keep the fleas away I ended up giving him another dose of Frontline. He was fine with it. But then it was winter and I didn't have to give him another dose. I'm concerned now that it's flea time again... Does anyone else have a sensitive Yorkie around 9 lbs and give them a monthly flea medication with out any harmful side effects?!?!? If you do use Frontline, how often do you apply it? |
