Maybe I am missing something here. I thought you had to give flea and tick prevention on a monthly basis. Not just when you find fleas. They are probably in your house now. I would suggest you keep them on a monthly maintenance schedule. My dog is 6 years old, and I have never seen a flea on her. I treat her monthly with Frontline Plus and now have recently switched over to Advantix II. I hope this helps as I know this must be uncomfortable for your pups. It is easier to prevent fleas than trying to get rid of them. |

Chodges yes, that is how flea prevention is supposed to be used but considering we can go years without any sign of fleas, I'm not comfortable treating my dogs unnecessarily. As I said, with our first dog Basil, monthly treatment throughout his whole life was necessary but with my current three (7, 8 and 9 years old) it hasn't been which I have been incredibly grateful for. So for an update; no fleas spotted since bath day!!! Guess we just had to get past the egg stage. I'll certainly continue to treat them monthly through the summer, as my vet told me, due to our mild winter, fleas are out of control right now. Will probably go back to Frontline though because they've responded to that much better in the past. Thanks so much to everyone for the help!:) |
I'm going to text you as I just won a battle with ticks! ewwwwww! PS- fancy meeting you here, xoxox. |

Hi Nikki. Living in The Bahamas I have the same climate as you. As a result I guess that is why I have the exact same problem with fleas! This is beyond frustrating because I swear these are some new mutant fleas because they are immune to everything. I have been using frontline every month, I treated the yard professionally, I treated the yard my self (with Conquer), I use flea/tick shampoo; but I still got fleas! I went to my vet yesturday and she told me to try a product called CERTIFECT. I put it on Diallo this morning so I won't know how good it works rite now. But has any one used this product? Have you heard about it? How effective is it? What I find so ironic is that this is made by the same people that makes frontline (which of course, does not work any more). |

Unfortunately my daughter spotted a few fleas on Spike today. This is insanity. I'm waiting for the vet pharmacist to return my call. |
