Help immediately with teeth... Hello all. I haven't posted in a while as I recently gave birth to my fourth child, so life is crazy right now. In the chaos of being a new mom again and working full time I haven't paid as much attention to my Sashas teeth as I should have, and one has fallen out. Please, I don't need any snide comments as I know she's my responsibility and I should have done better. How can I get her teeth back in good shape? She only eats Blue Buffalo food, no snacks and no human food ever. I scrub her teeth with those Dr. fosters pads, but those don't seem to cut it. Please any advice on toothpastes, dental treats or anything else that would help is much appreciated. |
I think a professional cleaning is a good place to start... then go from there with daily maintenance... |

A professional cleaning and exam for potential other rotten teeth are necessary. For daily maintenance, I like CET toothpaste and chews (supervise with the chews closely, they are a choking hazard). I also started using a dental wipe that I think is much better than the Dr. Foster pads (which I used when Max was a pup). |

I agree, a prof dental cleaning is the best thing to do now. And then you can keep up with them then. |
She definitely needs to see a vet. You really do need to take care of this before she becomes ill from the bacteria in her system. |
Stuff happens. It's okay. Vet appt in the very near future to assess what is going on and they will almost certainly have you schedule a dental. Brushing teeth daily is the best maintenance according to most vets/vet dentists. |
My cooper has horrible teeth he has an issue with ksc he doesn't produce tears like he should and gets daily drops, the eye dr we see says most dogs with kcs have horrible teeth from the lack of saliva, Cooper gets a cleaning once a year at our reg vet but also went to the dentist at Penn, he suggested that I brush daily and I do, I also use wipes, the pen vet suggested that I use biotene for dogs they have three products one goes it water one is a daily maint gel and one is a gel you use to start you can order online or maybe thru your vet, I also have the clear sealant out on coopers teeth after a cleaning I also use once a week at home. I brush and floss daily, he doesn't love it but he allows me to do it. I like the cet chews but Cooper eats them as a last resort. Even with all that Cooper still needs a cleaning about once a year I try to stretch out as much as I can as a cleaning is close to 800.00 here. I noticed a difference when I started using the biotene,,, it's biotene veterinarian |
I agree get her to the vet for an exam and dental cleaning, then from there you need to do maintenance on her so it doesn't happen again. |
