Finicky Eater... Hello Everyone. My name is Kerri and I have an 11 month old Yorkie that weighs 3 pounds. My concern for her is that it seems like she never eats no matter what I give her. I worry myself that she is going to starve herself to death. I have tried every thing I can think of but nothing seems to work. I have noticed (& this may sound crazy) that she is a shy eater. If anyone is watching her when she begins to eat she will not touch the food. It's only when the kids and I make it a point not to stare at her that she will start to eat but even then she doesn't eat what I would consider sufficient. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else ever had this problem? I appreciate any help I can get. Thank You :) |
Well , i do not have any experience with this as my boy oscar is a little pig and will eat anything but i do have a suggestion. You mention that bella is a shy eater. Maybe you could set up a crate for her in a seperate room when it is her mealtime take her in her room just place her food dish in her crate but do not put her in too just show her the food and then leave the room. See if that helps. Maybe she is too nervous to eat with anyone around. also , has she been eating the same food all her life? if not maybe she has developed a picky eater habit. if possible get some samples of small breed kibbles and see if there is a paticular one she really enjoys.. Hope this helps , good luck. |
I don't know if she eats from a bowl or a tray, but when my Tallulah used to consume a wet diet, she would only eat it off a tray or plate that was flat and open. I couldn't tell you why, but she's like that, haha. Frequently, dish problems are sometimes the cause of weird eating habits. I'd try the switch and see what she does. |
chester loves the sun dancer from solid gold grain free and is only 30% protein, picky eaters seem to go for it |
