Amount of Food for Puppy? BJ finally made it to 2.5 lbs. She is 12 weeks old Feb.29th. How much food should she eat in a day? The breeder had her on Ceasar Puppy Food (beef & chicken) and Purina Puppy Chow. I have kept her on these since she was so small and even the Vet said if she likes these and has no problems, don't change her until she is a little bigger and older. I know some people don't like Purina but she is picky and spoiled. She eats about 1/4 of the Cesar a day and then I keep a small amount of the Purina in a little aluminum bowl for her. She takes her paw and picks out one piece at a time of the dry food and chomps away. She walks away from the bowl.I have never had a dog do this. I laugh it is cute but most dogs eat from their bowl and she likes her Ceasar on a small plate. is there a certain amount they should eat per day or just let them eat and if they ae energetic and don't have problems and gain weight slowly it is enough? She is so different than our other little yorkie. She ate, finished and that was that but I know no two dogs are alike and I wouldn't want her any other way. I keep her water fresh, cleaning te bowl each time. She naps and sleeps with me at night. She won't get up until I do. She has been a God Send since I lost my husband and my baby Dee Dee within a month of each other. I think God, my husband and Dee Dee sent her to me, we just went to pick her up. By that I mean what young puppy would be content to just be with one person, sleep their hours and just have them to pay with. No other pets or people, just occasional visitors.:animal-pa |
hi , i think you are right not to change her food at this young age and being such a little girl she could get very sick from a diet change. well it sounds like you are feeding her plenty of food. as long as she is eating good and her # 1's & 2's are normal she should be fine. |
