change in dog food My Bella and Edward have been eating hard dog food that has lamb and rice in it for about the last three months before that they have always ate Iams which my vet recommend but I have heard that isn't good for them either. Just recently I notice that they are not eating their food like they should, I think it is too hard for them to chew. I don't want to switch to soft food but I wish I could find something that isn't as hard as what they are eating now. I need something that would benifit Bella because she is pregnant ! They are 2 and 1 yrs old does anyone have any suggestions on food that would better for them. |
Let me guess, Twilight fan ? Me too. Congrats on your soon to be new puppies. I would try something for a toy breed that has smaller pieces. Solid gold just a wee bit is a good one. Wellness also has a small breed formula. Would love to see some pics of your doggies.... |
Thanks I will look them up and order some. I havea album with some pictures of them . I'm still getting use to Yorkie talk I haven't used it that much. |
You are welcome. Yeah, yt is a big place but it is awesome... |
I would switch Bella to puppy food since she is pregnant and keep her on it til a little after the puppies are born. |
Mika- hi hope u are having a great Friday . Okay switch Bella to puppy food ? Is that better for her well she is pregnant ? I'm new to all this and any advice i can get is wonderful. Would puppy food be okay for Edward or should I keep him on the food oscars parent suggested? Thanks everyone for your help |
I would her on the puppy food as soon as possible both her and the babies need the added nutrition while she is pregnant. I don't 't think puppy food will harm his short term. Good lick with the pups |
Perhaps you should post your question in the breeder forum as the breeders may be able to help you with your diet concerns for the pregnant dog. |
I think it's good to have a dog on puppy food while she is pregnant and nursing puppies. Once they puppies are weaned you can go back to an adult food. There are quite a few foods for small breeds. You can try some of those. A lot of them provide samples at store where you can purchase the foods. You can also check with the company to see if you can get samples from them. As someone suggested, Solid Gold and Wellness have small breed formulas, as does Innova and several others. |
Thanks everyone for your advice. I am going to post on the breeder form and see if anyone can give me some their . I am going to try some different food once Bella has had her puppies . |

Yes I bought her puppy food, and already mixed it with the food she was previously on . I meant to say I am going to switch their food to solid gold wee bites after she has the puppies and they are weaned. |
