Chicken & Rice? Was wondering if you could tell me how you cook your chicken & rice for your furbabies? Thanks....don't know how I am going to get Lexi to eat that though? The vet wants her to have that when her tummy gets upset and hubby didn't ask how to cook it.... |
Take any plain, unseasoned chicken, boiled or baked, remove the meat from the bones, (no skin or bones or cartilage). I use Uncle Ben's white rice (easier to digest than brown rice) instructions are on the package. My vet recommends 1:1 ratio, which is 1 part chicken to 1 part rice, equal amounts of each. I usually make a cup of chicken, cut into tiny pieces, and mix it together with 1 cup of the white rice. It will keep in the fridge for about 3-4 days, I warm it up before feeding it though. Mine love the chicken, so I cut it up small so they can't pick it out too easy. |
Buy very lean ground chicken. Boil the chicken in water in pot on the stove (I usually do 1/2 to 3/4 cups per pound of chicken) Once chicken is cooked add white rice enough to absorb the water. Let cool slightly then serve to your princess. Hope this helps. Mine love it. |
You can just boil it. I keep boneless skinless chicken breasts in the freezer, they are a stable at my house. Boiling a frozen one for 20 minutes is enough. I would not use ground chicken, it sometimes is very high in fat. |
Thanks so much girls I will try them.....the ground chicken sounds like a yummy one. I guess the water would have some flavoring from the chicken and the rice will absorb some of the flavoring too......Lexi is so picky but the vet said she will eat it when she gets hungry enough I just worry if she doesn't eat as she is so small.....thanks again I really appreciate your input and ideas.....always get great help! |

We use boneless, skinless chicken breasts as well. So easy to keep on hand in the freezer, and easy to prepare for the pups (boil on the stove). :) |
