Diet Change Hello everyone, I have a 12yr old Yorkie named Petey. He has had 2 bouts of pancreatitus within a yr. We just got the results back from his GI panel. Vet says he needs to go on a low fat diet and I will need to learn how to give him B12 injections. My little guy only weighs 7lbs on a good day. Also he is a very picky eater. He has been on chicken and rice for 2 wks and is tired of it. I've been to a pet store that carries high end food. The vet said something under 8 grams of fat. I picked up Wellness weight maintenance formula however the kibble is not small enough. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you form any help. Esther |
maybe soak in a little water to make it softer and easier to chew. They have a small breed formula of healthy weight but it is 9% fat |
I prepare their meals. Gives me more control over what they eat minus the preservatives. Luckily for me my girls aren't that picky. So sorry to hear about the 2 cases of pancreatitus. Hope you find something that works. |
Some low fat options of commercial kibble: California Natural Innova Low Fat Blue Wilderness Healthy Weight Castor & Pollux Weight Mgt. Just some off the top of my head. There's also RX options like Royal Canin Gastrointestinal. |
