Interesting. Max had the vaccine once and I said no more. |
Jackson has had the vaccine twice; he's also had kennel cough twice (both times when not vaccinated). Well, I'm not entirely sure because one place told me it lasted 6 months - another told me a year. The one time he got kennel cough, he had gotten the vaccine within the year. His little "girlfriend" Nala also got KC at the same time as him and she had been vaccinated. So I'm a little iffy about it, however, I'm pretty certain I'll never do the bordatella vaccine again. I'd almost just rather deal with kennel cough if he happens to get it. It was cleared up real quickly. |
My old vet was really pushing this and the "flu" vaccine. I don't even vaccinate myself or my kids- I'm not vaccinating my dogs! Mylilfriend had a dog get the KC vaccine and doggie still got sick. |
Yeah, it drives me crazy that kennels require it. I stopped giving it to the Yorkies, but one petsitter last year asked that they get it in case she had to drop them off at daycare. I was desperate for a sitter and she was otherwise great, so I went ahead and had them vaccinated again. Turns out she didn't need to drop them off! |
Which is why I started grooming Cesar myself. The groomers want all these shots and they want them done every two years. After researching I found that it is not necessary and over vaccinating is very unhealthy for the dog, I decided I would just groom him myself. |

Same here. The mobile groomer does not require the shots, but she also doesn't do as good of a job as the groomers from this one place. I'll stick to the mobile groomer. She's new and has a learning curve. Plus, of my appointment is at 2, she starts working on Kaji at 2. He is never keneled or left alone. That is worth waiting for my mobile groomer to get some practice. :) |
