Feeding schedule - help needed! Hi everyone ... I need some help establishing a feeding schedule for my 13 week old yorkie, Gizmo. I am thinking of feeding him at: 7:30am, 11:30am, 3:30pm and 7:30 pm. Obviously, as he gets older, I would not feed him as often. Does this schedule sound appropriate for a 13 week old? |

Hi, The schedule looks ok to me, but I would perhaps feed a couple hours earlier in the am, so he doesn't have to go 12 hrs between feedings. If he is not really tiny, you could do three times daily. Of course it all depends on his nutritional needs and size and activity level. Congratulations on your new baby! |

Thank you - I will see how it goes! |

This is similar to what I did when each of our kiddos were puppies -- 4 feedings a day, maybe a little snack right before bedtime. They did great like this, and then we later switched to 3x day, then 2x. |

I'm one of the few on here that is all for getting a puppy young...but even to me 5 weeks is extremely young. Does he have teeth yet? Is he weaned and eating food yet? It is one heck of a responsibility caring for a very young puppy. He'll require 24 hour care. He will need to be fed every 3-4 hours around the clock for weeks. It is just like caring for a human infant...you can't just leave them at that age & go to school/work...he'll require around the clock care. |

I have only seen pictures of him so I am not sure if he has teeth yet. From what she told me today on the phone she has family coming and needs the puppies out so she can have house ready. I was amazed at how careless she was for the puppies. I believe they are still drinkin moms milk. i read that there is a puppy formula that i can give. they said every 3hrs or so about 2cc's is that about right? |
