Updated Dog food Information help Hi...I am new here and am devouring all the info that I can.. But I am now a little confused. My baby is 8 years old and I switched his food to Innova Nutro after the whole Chinese poisoning thing a few years ago as I was told that this was the safest, best food made. Now as I am reading about the class action suit and being bought by PG I am horrified. And a little miffed that my local pet stores didnt ever mention any better alternatives:( I want to get new safer food that is good for him but I am perplexed as to what to get...On many sites I reference, the info seems a little dated..Any suggestions? Btw, my baby is NOT a picky eater:), but I am a picky yorkie mom:) Thanks for any and all suggestions.... |
The class action suit with Innova is because of misrepresentng information. The company claimed that the ingredients were human grade. My furgirl is on innova small bites. I tried to switch her from innova and it was a disaster. Frankly I don't care about the P & G connection as long as the formula doesn't change. Also I don't care about the human grade qualities because all I want is a quality dog food . Its hard to select a good dog food. Remember that no dog food is perfect. What works wonders for one dog may be a disaster for another dog. :aimeeyork I suggest you research and select the best option for your particular pet. |

I think you meant Natura instead of Nutro. Innova is made by Natura (now owned by P&G). Nutro is a completely different company. I would never feed anything from Nutro, however, my mother in law swears by it. |
I just realized I did make that mistake....Nutro was what I fed before the Chinese tainting crisis:( Innova is what I have fed ever since...I see it was listed as 4 stars on the previous website for dog food reviews with no red bad ingredients. But when I look at the 5 star foods, many have red (bad ) ingredients... This is very confusing..I only want to buy the best, safest food for my "baby".... |
There is no perfect food but I try to stay away from the foods that have red highlighted too. It is so confusing. From what I learned two dogs in the same family may have to be fed different foods. It is an individual thing. What works for one dog may not work for another dog. I try to get the best food I can afford too and I also look for foods that my groomer can order easily . I live in a small town and we don't have many places that sell good dog food. |
