Is anyone else neurotic about your baby? Tomorrow I am going to talk to the vet about all I've spent on Latte's allergies, which, if you could see her, you would know for a fact that her allergies are not that bad. Most of the reason I'm going is because my darling husband has taken her several times and I need to talk to the vet myself to be reassured that I am doing all I can and she is FINE! Does anyone understand my obsessive/compulsive tendencies toward my dog? I need some validation, please.;) |
You are in good company here. :) Hope all goes well with the vet. |
Short answer: yes Looooong answer............ y e s :D |
Consider yourself....validated:D Boy, do I get it. I really do. |
You are not alone! Everyone keeps telling me I need to relax and not worry so much. It's easier said than done. :) |
Well, if you're showing "obsessive/compulsive tendencies toward your dog" than a great number of us here are as well. Personally, I think it's healthy. IF you didn't go to the vet for every minor concern, than there's always that possibility that something "minor" could turn "major" because you didn't get a vet's input whilst it was minor. ...sometimes it's a good thing to make a mountain out of a molehill. Wheezzz, it's so good to see that I'm not alone;) Here I thought I was going off the deep end....it's all good! We are all in the "compulsive/obsessive club" LOL. |
[QUOTE=Does anyone understand my obsessive/compulsive tendencies toward my dog? I need some validation, please.;)[/QUOTE] In looking at some of your past posts, I can see that you have had more than your share of medical problems but your dog has managed to get to age 9, so WELL DONE!!! It's the unknown and the trial and error we have to go through with our pets that can drive us crazy and certainly, I can validate you in that regard. Concerned and cautious is one thing and obsessive/compulsive is totally something else and only you can determine that. Is your concern over your dog destroying your own quality of life? Is it affecting your relationships? Is it affecting your dog's quality of life? If so, then there is help out there. OCD is no picnic and although I dont have it myself, I've lived with it for many years. Interestingly enough, Smokey is both a pleasant diversion and a calming influence in our lives despite the moderate chaos that comes along with raising a puppy, but we did discuss whether or not introducing him to our lives was going to ramp up my partner's OCD or not before we got him. Thankfully, it hasn't. :animal-pa |
you are not alone. i am exactly like that with my 3 dogs , 2 cats, 1 fish.... |
Um, Neurotic? Um, understatement over here. *Raises hand high in the air* |
Ohhhh Yeah!! Welcome To The Club!! :) |
Thank you all! 1 Attachment(s) Thank you for the support and validation. I have other issues in my life that have me depressed and anxious (add to that a family tendency), so I can't say it's just my dog. My husband is very supportive. It's nice to know that there are so many who feel the same way. The trip to the vet was good. I told him everything we've been going through and he recommended going back to a homemade fish and sweet potato diet, a multivitamin, duck or venison treats (I got duck jerky.) and Revolution for flea control. I also showed him the homeopathic remedy and he was ok with that and the 1/4 tab of cortalone every other day. All that for $22. I took back the dog food, got the multivitamin, duck jerky and went to Winco and got some salmon and sweet potatoes. Came home and Latte loved the jerky and just ate a plateful of tilapia, salmon and sweet potato. She's happily snoozing on my lap so I will get back to my knitting. I sincerely appreciate all the helpful comments!:) |
Aww, Latte is beautiful! Such a darling picture! Kisses to her sweet face:D |
I still check to make sure Levi is breathing if I wake up in the middle of the night. You're definitely not the only neurotic one! :p |
Yes I just lost my husband, then my yorkie of 10 years from cancer so I am very protective to the point of obsession about BJ . She is 9 weeks old and still weight 1 lb 5 ounces. Eats well but fills up fast so I have to feed her frequently. |
