bladder or kidney problems my 4 year old yorkie sometimes pees with some blood in the urine. Took him to the vet months ago, gave him some meds, got better, sometimes he's well for months, others he's ok one week and one day he pees with some blood. Anyone has had any problem like this? Will be taking him to vet again. Hope it's not kidney stones, would not want surgery.:( |
Poor little guy. Follow up with the vet as soon as possible because the longer something festers, the worse it gets, and the more expensive. If it is stones, you risk having an emergency situation that could be fatal. Stones are very painful too. Did your vet run any tests on your little guy? You may consider going to a specialist if you can. Keep us posted. |

My little boy's mom Mallky went to the vet because of little growths around her nipples. Had bloodwork done because almost died 3 weeks ago (frog) and her calcium was 13.4( didn't know what it meant) Vet at emergency told me to have her seen. Well vet said one of the tumors could be cancer and I am devastated. Tomorrow I will know results of new bloodwork and will have her spayed on Friday(please please pray for her-- first time having one of my girls spayed--) Then he will check about the tumor he thinks is cancerous. She is my baby, gave me two girls and my boy, very bright (my favorite). |
i hope ur favorite is ok and everything turns out great! hopefully it is nothing serious. let us know and i will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. |
My Brody had blood in his urine and also was straining to go potty, he had bladder stones and surgery followed. I would definitely take him to the vet, and have them run tests and blood work. Any type of stones are very painful. I agree with the others I would want to know what is exactly going on. |

I have had issues with a 4.5 year old female spayed yorkie (Charlie). She had bladder stone surgery and is now on her 3rd food (Royal Canin SO) and 1/4 tablet craninidine supplement daily. Her only treats are washed carrots. She takes 1/4 tab of benadryl in the AM and PM. We have been giving her only distilled water and cleaning her with pamper wipes then patting dry every times she goes outside. We also have kept her hair short to keep her bottom and legs dry. This has minimized her UTI flare ups but has not prevented them altogether. I have no doubt that her issues stem from a metabolic dysfunction that creates a favorable environment for UTI/stone development. However, I will continue to look for ways to make Charlie as comfortable and healthy as possible. I would definitely recommend taking your yorkie in for appt. |
Our 4 yo boy just had 7 stones removed Tuesday. He had the same symptoms. Get to the vet and get a quick xray. |
Oh my, I sure hope they find out what's wrong and prayin it's not kidney stones. If it is, I;d get them out ASAP, I've never had a furkid with them, but I've had them myself. I've heard people say they'd rather give birth, well after having had them myself, I totally agree! Praying for both your furbabies and you. |
