wormshield and pyrantel at the same time? Brought my 8 week old yorkie for an initial pet screening today. The vet gave me wormshield to start his heart worm preventative, and 4 syringes of pyrantel because he said he saw a couple of round worm in his stool. Wormshield has a pretty high ammount of pyrantel in it already( almost as much as all for syringes combined). I question giving my little boy this much, seeing how the wormshield is for the 0-25lb dog, and he weighs 1.5 lbs. Any opinions, experiences? Thanks |
I'd call and talk to the vet about it... |
thank you I actually discussed this with the vet during the exam. He said " sure, no problem". Im uncomfortable with medications to begin with, and this just seems like too much of one drug at one time. Perhaps i will wait until after his 3rd set of shots to start him on heart worm meds. He will be staying inside until then, and the threat of mosquito bites is nill to none this time of year. My confidence in vets is very low due to past experiences, so when one says "sure, no problem", it's not convincing. thanks for you reply |
Oh You're Welcome... and Welcome to YT! I would be concerned also as Yorkie Pups are so tiny. Maybe call around and ask a few other vets in your area, see what they recommend. |
