problem with anal glans My little guy is 4 months old. We have had him for 2 weeks. Wednesday he started scooting on the floor. I read somewhere that they do that because of there anal glans so i took him to the vet and he squeezed them. I noticed today that he is scooting again. How often will he need to go get that done. Will he always have this problem or will it go away after a while?:animal-pa |

I watched them and they said they were full. alot of stuff came out. I thought that he would not have wormes because he is still being wormed and getting shots. He will get his last shots the 7th. I looked at his poo and didnt see anything in it. But I dont know what you mean when you asked if i checked his bum for poo. I am going to take him back to the vet tomorrow to let them check him again. He just dont seem like his self. Thanks |
Sometimes more fiber in the diet can help resolve anal gland problems. Are you feeding him a premium diet? |
The lady that we got him from was feeding Diamond so we bought a bag of that. We feed our outside dogs Chicken Soup for pet lovers. The pet store said that the Chicken Soup for puppy Lovers was better than the Diamons so we bought a bag of that. I am trying to switch him over to the Chicken Soup. I also give him Little Jacs small dog training treats when he goes out to potty. He don't eat alot of food tho. Maybe i am giving him to many treats. |
Often allergies can cause anal gland problems. K....what I meant about checking his bum is that sometimes they will get a tiny piece of poo stuck to their bum & it will make them scoot to try to remove it so before you go to the vet check that 1st & if nothing there then off to the vet.;) |
Mine will go off their feed when their anal glands are bothering them. I give them each 4-6 green beans... seems to help them get more regular. If your puppy is looking bloated, have you vet look at him asap as it could be more involved. |
Thank you all. I only saw him scoot one time yesterday and none today. Maybe that a good sign. He has to go get his last shots tomorrow so i am going to let them check him out. |
