What dental sprays/additives do you use? First off, Princess had a bad baby tooth pulled one week ago & her breath is already starting to smell fantastic!:D:D:D The vet said she has minor plaque but if I get her on a good dental regimen it should keep things easily in check until we do a full dental. Couldn't do one at the time due to finances since it wasn't completely necessary. So what do you use for a spray/water additive, etc.? I want to start trying to brush more after her gums heal but it's a huge struggle so I'd like to have something else going as well. Of course I know some contain xylitol & I'd like to avoid those & I'll get whatever I try vet approved for her stomach/diet issues. Thanks! |
I've become a dental care freak now, LOL. Jackson had his cleaning now over two weeks ago and I plan on keeping them as shiny white and plaque/tarter-free as possible. So I placed an order and got CET beef toothpaste, a mini finger toothbrush (which he tolerates SO much better), CET chews, HealthyMouth gel (this stuff was pricey, but dentist approved it). I already had Petzlife gel and ProDen PlaqueOff from before. So basically, I've been brushing his teeth every night and applying the HealthyMouth. I bring Petzlife with me when I am staying at another house with him and will use that (I was dogsitting the other night for example). I sprinkle the PlaqueOff on his meal every other day or so. And he gets a CET chew a few times a week. I really liked the HealthyMouth because it was approved by the VOHC and it was proven to actually work. Some of the other products don't really have much to back them up. HealthyMouth also has a water additive. |
I pretty much use the same as Britz, except instead of Petzlife I use this spray called Dentasure. My dogs love their CET chews, I get them in the petite size. Been using this regimen for a year now and they have no plaque! yay. |
I use to brush their teeth, but now I use the dental wipes and a scaler. |
I brush their teeth most nights, and I use Petzlife spray 3-4 times a week. Their teeth are white and clean, and so far neither has needed a dental. If I occasionally see some plaque build-up, I scrape it off with a dental scaler. |
I don't use any additives. I brush my dog's teeth with CET dental toothpaste and have had great results. |

This HealthyMouth gel sounds great...expensive but looks like something that I'm definitely going to try with Sasha. I brush Sasha's teeth at least every other day and on the days I don't brush, I apply Petzlife Oral Care Gel. Usually every other day she also gets some sort of dental treat such as Zuke's Z-Bones or Blue Buffalo Dental Bones. I know they probably do no good but she sure does love them. |
