Lepto Outbreak in Michigan |
Grand... |
Yup, it's not far from us either. I know of a case or two riiiiiiiiiiiiiight here... Wish E didn't react terribly to the vaccine or I think she'd be getting it. My other one gets it, so we're safe there. Such a nasty disease. |
Oh no...not again! My vet said there was one last year, so he was pretty insistent on ZoE getting her lepto shot as a puppy. Does the vaccine cover this strain? |
There was (when the rats started losing their homes because of all the construction - which is no better this year!). But it looks like this one is killing lots of pups. :( And family pets seem to be getting it, not all strays like usual. I think it would depend on the manufacturer. The one Rylee got apparently does. |
Go figure, when I was at the vet last, there was a big poster regarding lepto and how it attacks as well as the symptoms. Not a nice thing, at all. I know Gizmo got it (now I'm beginning to doubt myself and I know I'm going to check his record anyway) but it's still scary. And your right, it's not far from us at all. |

...probably because they can't put those stupid construction barrels away for even a week in this state... |
Tell me about it. Hall Rd. seems to be the worst too. And of course, it seems to be unavoidable. |
Scary!! I live in Lake Orion and I am taking my 14 week old yorkie puppy in for her shots on Monday. The breeder told me not to get the lepto shot because it only covers a few strains so I wasn't going to especially because my last 2 both had bad reactions to it. So not I don't know what to do.:( |

If I remember correctly, Lady Jane had a link to a website that allowed you to see the number of reported cases of Lepto in your area. Does anyone else remember that link? |
Ugh, very disturbing. |
