Bladder Stone Home Remendies? Are there any good home remendies to help prevent bladder stones? She is already on a vets diet Hills C/D. We have heard two different stories let her have milk at night this will help, but then we have heard not to give an adult dog to much milk (due to fat in the milk). Please help |
I wouldn't give a dog milk. I would talk with your vet, they will have the best information. I would think milk would upset their stomach.. Is she still getting stones? I would be more inclined to follow a vet's recommendations then a home remedy. |

I'm not aware of any bladder stone home remedies. My yorkie had bladder stone surgery. My vet told me this week of a nutraceutical called cranitidine (that is new and apparently only available through a vet) that will decrease urine pH in the bladder to make bacterial growth conditions less favorable. In hindsight I wish I would have consulted an veterinary internist for the surgery itself for our yorkie I would ask these questions if you elect to have the stones removed surgically: 1. How many bladder stone surgeries have you done on dogs this size? 2. How often do you do these surgeries? 3. I wouldn't be pushy about this one but I would be curious if he/she has a pet owner who could give you a testimonial how things went with their pet for bladder stone surgery? |
Thank you all for the suggestions , we have asked the vet also she stated the same, she is doing great after the surgery she will stay on the prescription food and hopefully that will keep it in check. |
Do a search on potassium citrate. Sid had the surgery about three years ago. A member told me about the potassium. He's been on it ever since, so far, so good. |
