Should I feed Amara Orijen? I am considering feeding Amara Orijen dog food. I never received my Go Natural Grain Free Endurance Formula. So I'm like that may be a sign. So on to the next. I wanted to know if anyone has or does feed this dog food. And is it a good choice for Amara. Thanks everyone. |
That depends. I think Orijen is a very nice food -- it may be too rich for some dogs. How active is Amara? Has she ever eaten a grain-free, higher protein food before? I personally prefer Acana (made by the same company). |

Orijen senior has 395 calories per cup. Not bad and a 15% fat. Protein 38% Not bad. Its that formula or the adult formula. The adult has 460 calories and 17% fat. Protein 38%. I'm not sure which I want yet but I'm pricing them and stuff. |
I fed Orijen to Sasha only once before and she didn't have any issues with it. The only reason I stopped feeding it was because it was hard to get locally and she has always (imo) done the best on Blue Buffalo Wilderness so that's what I decided to stick with. I hope Orijen works well for your baby! |

I would try TOTW Pacific Stream before Origin. Dori progressed from Wellnes 5 to Origin to TOTW. She is now an enthusiastic eater and her poops are small and firm twice a day. I even use it for training treats. Dori eats 1/4 cup twice daily, is medium active and weighs 7 lbs. at 19 months old. |

Some ways to choose a food: How is the company's quality control? Do you think that the people creating the recipes have the expertise to do so? Are they willing to thoroughly answer yours and your vet's questions? Do the protein, fat, and fiber quantities meet those of your pup (as agreed on by your vet)? What food does your vet or veterinary nutritionist think is best? Do the company's standards meet what you expect? Are they at all interesting in real research or are they guessing at creating foods? Each dog is so different. Whether your pup is fed Orijen should be based on the above. Personally I don't like the company or the foods they make and would not feed them to my pups. |
I found out Orijen is wayyyyy too rich for Amara. |
