flea and tick treatment Marlyn is only 3lbs and the new certifect has been recommended. It does a little more for tick control which here in Florida is necessary. It states for dogs to 20lbs. The first ever treatment I gave her made spastic, lethargic and ill. I am currently giving her revolution currently but have found ticks on her. Any thoughts or info please Gabe:aimeeyork |
That would seem like an overdose reaction. Up to 20 pounds is not for a 3 pound dog. Maybe use a part of the dose? I live in Florida too but haven't used any flea protection on my dog for years. I bathe him in lavendar shampoo. |
Not surprising. I remember running across this as a new product in one of my vet's magazines and we were thinking it wasn't going to be good... because they added Amitraz. ProMeris was just yanked over some issues and it contained Amitraz. Probably not the best drug to be using if possible to avoid. Did you try just the straight Frontline Plus? They can take care of ticks sometimes. Or if that doesn't work, Advantix? It does contain permethrin which may be a problem for some dogs, but it's worth a try if you have to. I'm not a Revolution fan. That's one I personally wouldn't be using. Any drug that is as new as Certifect probably is worth avoiding until other owners try it on their dogs so you can get an idea of reaction rate. |
