New baby has a cough Hi ya'll! I haven't posted on here in while but we have a new baby boy now and I need some advice. My little Colby is making this coughing noise. It doesn't sound like kennel cough or anything. It's more like just one single cough as if he's trying to clear his throat or something. I called today to make an apt. with our vet but we can't get in till wed. I was just wondering if any of you Super Yorkie Mom's out there might have any ideas or advice. Oh yes, Colby is 4 months old and has no other symptoms at all. He is a very active and healthy little boy and eats, drinks, and annoys his sister well. |
First, I'd suggest that you get a vet opinion. We got Cailee in September and after 3 weeks she started coughing/sneezing. I took video with my phone of her coughing (because it was mostly at night- and not an easy task since she would usually stop coughing by the time I got my phone/video working). At any rate, I played them for our vet and she told me Cailee was reverse sneezing. This continued on for a couple of weeks and now she doesn't do it very often. The vet told us that she could have an allergy (seasonal or otherwise) that was triggering the reverse sneezing. I feel a whole lot better since we've had the Vet diagnose it. Good luck. |
Thank you for your reply. Colby went to the vet yesterday and that is exactly what they told me it was..."reverse sneezing". I'm very relieved:) |
Glad to hear it wasn't an illness... |

If he does it again, gently use your fingertips to cover his nostrils, forcing him to open his mouth to breathe. Should stop the reverse sneezing like flipping an off switch. Soph does this a lot, especially in spring and fall allergy season and the nostril trick always works for her. |
