Flea/Tick Prevention even with a lymes shot? I got lola the lyme prevention shot since my parents sometimes have a random deer run through their neighborhood. She got this done when she got her rabies shot. My question is, we live in NJ and it is cold weather months now....Lola has never been given any flea/tick medication or topicals. Does she need them even with the lymes shot? in addition to? I read alot about advantage and capstar and other brands, just wondering if there is a sticky or information for me as to what to get her on or if its needed. lola is almost 6 months. |
I get the lyme shot for Callie because any ticks that seem to bite her are tiny and I just dont want to chance it with her being a magnet for ticks but I also treat her with Advantix for fleas and ticks in the warmer months and frointline in the cooler months. I would suggest using something for fleas and ticks. |
Lyme's isn't the only tick borne illness, so yes, if there is a tick problem there, then something that prevents them is needed. Flea prevention may also be needed. Depends on lifestyle, area, etc. We don't have a tick problem and I don't like to over drug, so we only use flea preventative when we see one. |
lola has not had any issues with fleas or ticks. she goes outside to potty that is it. she is not roaming free and we live in a residential area, not near woods or antying. |
