Ultra - introduced wet food ? Lola is almost 6 months and has been eating Ultra kibble for almost the 2.5 months. She was started on "Health Extension" but i didnt like that for her, and got her on Ultra kibble dry (rinsed with water then drained). She loves it, has done well with it. So i started 3 days ago to introduce Ultra wet food, a spoonful of it to her dry food. Now her "potty" schedule is all out of whack. Before she would do #2 morning, after work and at night. Now there have been mornings she doesnt go #2, goes after work, then doesnt go again until 1am (which was not typical at all, she never woke me up in middlde of night to go potty) so, is this a food thing (introducing wet to kibble) or is it just an adjustment period? btw this is the food's website for those who are nto familiar with Ultra: http://www.ultraholistic.com/ |
Did you decrease the amount of kibble to compensate for the addition of calories in the wet food? Is there a reason you want to feed her the wet food? It tends to be richer, higher in calories and fat that kibble. Unless there is a need for the wet, I would stick to kibble. |

well i was noticing she was only eating half of her kibble, and the wet has nice chunks of meat and i tested some with her and she seemed to like it. she is still so tiny and i want to amke sure if she is hungry she eats. she is almost 6 months and about 2.5 pounds maybe 3. she likes the wet so i mixed it in and use a bit less kibble. i did it more for taste and to see if she would like it, which it seems she does, but her potty at 1am never happened before. |
I've never had an issue with potty changes while feeding wet food. But then again, I've fed Jackson wet food mixed with kibble since I brought him home. I like adding some wet food for the added moisture, protein, and lack of preservatives. I've been using Weruva because it looks so delicious and it's low in fat. Good luck! :) |
