Constant itching.... Louis has had a very bad time with fleas this season. He has been on Frontline, and that didn't work. I finally gave him Comfortis and luckily I haven't seen any fleas since. Now the problem he is left with is the constant iching. Is there any thing that I can give him to help relieve his itching? He weighs 6 lbs. His hair is really bad on his hind legs from all the scratching. :( Has anyone else had this problem with their yorkies hair, and will it grow back thick and full again? I have been using Minksheen shampoo on him. |
Do you think his itching is just from the fleas? Bc if the fleas are long gone, but he's still going crazy w/ itchies - it makes me think seasonal (pollen) allergies. Here is a thread about allergies from the library: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html |

If i was you i would try benadryl or zyrtec. If its only been a week, he could definatly still be itchy from the bites. |
Bailey has been scratching a lot. The doctor told us to get children's liquid benedril. He gave us a needless syringe and told us to fill it to the 5 mark (ml?). We did that last night before bedtime. He didn't much want to participate, but we got most of it down him. Also because it could be alergies, we changed out his food today as well. Want to take every precaution possible. Good luck. |
Thanks for the responses. I will call his vet tomorrow and see if they recommend me giving him Benedryl. |
I hope little Louis can get some relief from the itchies. What did your vet recommend? |
Curious what your vet recommended and if it worked. Like i said before my vet had me try benadryl and after trying it, it never worked, and then they had me start my little guy on zyrtec and that worked wonders. although it can take up to two full weeks before you can notice improvment, (benadryl or zyrtec)which was the case with my boys. |
