Scratching at lower jaw Hi all, I am having Poppy for almost 2 yrs now. On and off she will scratch herself at her lower jaw. I tried to do a research on and seems not really big issues scratching the Jaw area. We changed her diet, showered her up and even changed up her collar, tag and bell. Upon inspection, there's no bumps felt. She scratches very hard and makes alot of noise (due to her bell at the collar) esp at night. Not sure if she is getting our attention (she sleeps with us on the bed) and when I bring her out to her pee tray she stops when get back in bed. So should I be concern about it or it's just a Yorkie's beahaviour? |
I don't think it is normal Yorkie behaviour - something must be irritating her in this area. Have you looked at it with a really good light source and perhaps magnifing glass? There just may be something you are missing. I would mention it to the vet next time you go and get them to have a good look. I know about the noisy bell at night! We take Tootsy's collar off at night for this reason - every little movement makes the bell ring it seems! Ha! Ha! Hope you find a solution. hugs |
My boys will start scratching their chins when it is time for a bath. Their skin is perfect there, no abnormalities. I believe they get the itchies after being in the grass and when they get a little grubby. They also have a single black whisker that is like wire in the center of their chins that I think causes them to itch. |
Thanks for the input ladies. :) Bringing her to vet next week to rule out any possibilities |
