reverse sneezing?? Hi everybody! I was hoping that someone on here could give me a little information/advice. Dex seems to do what many people call "reverse sneezing". When I first get home, dex seems very excited and seems to make this HORRIBLE choking/caughing,snorting sound! It has scared me many times thinking that he can't breathe. He also does this when he drinks too much. Does anyone else's yorkie do this? Something I should be concerned with? |
My Patti does that. My sister thought she was choking to death. I have been around Yorkies for a very long time and knew that she was just reverse sneezing. She also has allergies. She does it when she gets excited. It is kind of a snorting coughing choking sound. It is something that is common in the yorkie breed. Sassy does not reverse sneeze. Linda, Sassy and Patti |
I get the same with Romeo as well. I'd read about reverse sneezing and thought I was well prepared but the first time Romeo did it I freaked out. He has allergies and will do the reverse sneeze as soon as he gets outside or if he's really excited. He's 28 months now and I still get nervous when he sneezes. |
the first time my little one did this I thought she was choking too...both my girls have allergies...Sadie, the 6 yr old, does this more frequently than Lillie, 5yr old. I pick them up, walk around the house ,gently run their neck area, and talk quietly to them..this usually works for them..someone on here said to blow into their face like you are trying to blow out a candle. This didn't work for Sadie. Maybe the face blowing will work for your little one...I HATE it when this happens to them...they have such a frightened look in their eyes... |
Cailee is 4-1/2 months old and started reverse sneezing several weeks ago. At first it was only at night; now it's more random. I took a couple of videos (on my phone) and took her to the Vet. She said it was reverse sneezing and she thinks Cailee has allergies. It was very scary the first night it happened. I thought she was choking to death. |
