Foul odor breathe-rotted loose teeth My yorkie girl is only 4 y/o and for the last 2 yrs Ive noticed her breathe has been just horrible..like something died in her stomach! Ive had her teeth prof. cleaned once around 1 1/2 yrs ago. I brush her teeth 2x a week at a min I know it should probably be everyday- i also have petzlife toothgel which i dont give her often enough either. I did address this with the vet and he said switch to a vegetarian diet because maybe her stomach cannot process the proteins thus giving this foul odor. We switched and shes been on veg. diet for over 6 mnths and no progress. What else could it be??! Its driving me crazy I'm convinced it has to something to do with digestion and its rotting her teeth her front bottom teeth are loose but havent fell out yet. I dont even want her close to us and I feel so bad for it but because Im such a clean freak I just get grossed out with the smell and the "uncleanliness". Im due with my first baby any day now and really would like to get this issue under control. |
It may very well be her teeth. Princess has broke the tip off one of her teeth (baby tooth, thanks goodness) & her breath is horrible from it. Otherwise her teeth look great & she has not needed her first dental yet. The tooth is the only thing that's changed so I assume that's what the bad breath is from. Have you tried to get your girl in for another dental to see if that will help? |
She needs another dental. They will pull the loose ones and clean the ones that are left, and it will solve the problem. Don't worry about them pulling her teeth, at this point it is FAR better for her to have fewer teeth than it is for her to have diseased teeth and gums. That infection can spread and damage her organs or kill her. |
If they are loose, she likely has periodontal disease. Find a vet that is more proactive with this sort of thing. She needs a dental, extractions, and gum work done if this is the problem. Then she should have her teeth brushed daily and dentals 1-2x yearly as needed. |
Mine is 2 1/2 I brush her teeth increase a week I hope it will help ...yorkies a known for bad teeth unfortunately......but I give her all hard food and treats just a lil wet very lil in the morning:aimeeyork |
