Frontline Plus-vomiting as a side effect? Has anyone had any side effects of vomiting with frontline plus? Jamie vomited today and yesterday I had applied the Frontline between her shoulders. She has been taking it since she was a pup. She is about 2 years, 3 months now. She hardly ever vomits but I do remember that a few weeks ago, she also vomited once. I didn't think about the Frontline at that time so I don't remember if the vomiting occurred after the application. Just wondering if others had any experience with this. Also she is on the big side-almost 10 pounds. I know some people spilt the dose for the smaller yorkies but I have never done that with her. She seems fine other than the vomiting. I'll feed her soon and see what happens. |
I used Frontline and Frontline Plus for years on three different Yorkies with no problems except that one hated the application and would run up and down the couch rubbing himself whether he had a flea when I applied it or not. I think he was just getting even with me. I've had to switch to Advantage now because the Frontline just quit working last year. The Advantage is doing that great a job either but I don't know what else to do. |
I am really scared of all that stuff. I had one of mine vomit with the Comfortis. Never used it again. Anything with chemicals just really bothers me. Hope your baby will be okay. |
If you really feel there is a connection I would take your baby to the vet and talk to them about it. All humans and animals have allergies and sensitivities to different things. I had a paint horse that was almost an albino once and he was allergic to some types of hay. Can you believe a horse allergic to hay. We had to be very careful what we bought for him and if he got the wrong thing the vet had to give him steroids and antihistamines. I have learned that with animals anything is possible. |
I googled and found out that vomiting and lethargy are rare side effects. One website also said that it can build up in the dog's body so a few month break is a good idea. I ha tried feeding her a little last night but she wasn't eating and she did appear lethargic and a little off. Today she woke up her normal crazy self and ate breakfast. Since the colder weather will be coming soon, this will be her last dosage for a while. She has her annual visit with the vet in a few weeks and I will bring up the potential problem I am having. Thanks for feedback. |
I am looking for any recent posts on possible side effects from Frontline Plus. I am concerned because, I gave my 7 month old, 7 lb yorkie his monthly Fronline treatment. The very next morning he had vomited, was lethargic, didn't eat or want to play. Later, he was more himself, and I thought it was just something he ate. (a bug, or something.) But today he was worse, vomited 3x, very lethargic, to the point where I had to pick him up. To the vet we went! He was diagnosed with Lyme & Anaplasmosis. My major concern is, did the diagnosis compromise his immune system and alter the side effect of the Frontline? I will pose this question to the vet tomorrow morning, along with an e-mail to the maker of Frontline. If anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms, please post. Thank You |
I haven't had any problems with Frontline with Jaxson but then again he's only had it twice. Hope everything works out & your baby feels better!! Good Luck! :) |

my oscar is 1 year old @ 7 1/2 lbs. oscar did not do well on the frontline either, i tried it once and he seemed to not feel well for days after. now he is back on Revolution and doing fine.. i hope your little guy feels better soon.. |
I've used Frontline for 12 years now. All of my dogs use it. I've never had a flea or a tick so I feel the product is effective in my area. As for side effects, I've never had a side effect in any of my dogs including my epileptic dog. As all dogs are different, I'd make mention of this to your vet, especially if you have a problem at the next dosage. Personally, I use half doses now but did use entire doses for years without a problem. Hope this helps, and I'm glad your little one is feelign better. |
Frontline Plus My little guy, Rocky, who is 16-1/2 seemed to get sick the day after he got Frontline Plus for the past two months. He goes to the vet end of the month and I am going to mention it. He has had it all his life and never liked it (used to run around and try to get it off) but was never sick. I think this is it for him. My elderly poodle was taken off it the last year of her life but she did get a tick before she passed on. Never had a flea problem that year though. Sort of scary because we do have a lot of Lyme Disease in our area. My dogs always have gotten their Lyme shots but of course, I can still get it. |
