Hair in eyes Kiki has hairs growing into his eyes. What do you all do in this situation? Should I cut them? Or I've read that I could put vaseline on them to lay them down. Thanks! Ladyt & Kiki |
It's really just a matter of preference....some here cut around the eyes and some don't. I like having it long and keeping it tied up. Once it's cut it seems like it takes forever to grow out. Putting vasaline to help tame it while it grows out is a good idea if you don't want to cut it. I personally don't think it's any harder keeping the eyes clean with it long :) |
Thank you so much Michelle for your response. I was not sure if cutting the hair too soon would do something weird as far as the way it grows or not. I am going to try the vaseline first and see how it works. Thanks again! :) Ladyt & Kiki :aimeeyork |
No, it won't do anything wierd :) Once it gets longer it will lay down better. If you do decide to let it grow out, make sure you tell your groomer to NOT cut around the eyes. It's been my experience that most groomers do this automatically. And, you are very welcome!!! :) |
Thanks again Michelle, Happy holidays to you and yours! |
I have this hair in the eyes problem too. Here's my thought and see if it makes sense to you. I told the groomer NOT to cut around the eyes because I'm trying to learn to groom Susan myself and I'm not brave enough to cut around her eyes. So I thought if I let it keep growing eventually I can tie back the part that grows up and smooth down the part that grows on her snout but now puffs up into her eyes. Am I on a sort of right track or am I completely messed up or something in the middle? |
Kiki's hair has just begun to really grow wild and into the eyes. I'm not sure what is best to do. To be honest I am scared to try and cut around the eyes also. I think I am going to just try the vaseline and let a groomer cut the hairs if I decide to go that route. |
 I too am in need of advice. I always kept my first yorkie clipped around the eyes. Now, I want to train them but I made the mistake of trimming when I got her. Now it IS taking forever as said in a previous post. I'm glad you printed this because I was beginning to wonder if I should trim it again or give up. I'll keep trying. Also the vaseline!!! Thank you. I was wondering what to use to try to keep it up without drying it as my Mari has cotton hair. :D |
I try to lay them down but gave up. I just cut it. |

The only part that I keep cut on Maggie, is the few hairs right at the tear duct area. I use round end scissors to clip those hairs. I don't have any problem with runny eyes then. |
