zentonil - ALT 104 we just had some blood work done on our female yorkie, Maya, and her ALT is 104. The vet recommended Zentonil, 100 mg for 2 months then have her re-tested. We are also scheduled to have her spayed next week, she is a year old.......We were wondering is there was something that is like Zentonil but not a prescribtion and if anyone has had the same issue and what their thoughts were on her levels....I guess in short, what are your thoughts, opinions and experiences with this issue, oh, and should we have her spayed next week or wait??? She has had her first heat in May...thanks for sharing... |
If the vet says use it, then I wouldn't hesitate. It shouldn't hurt a thing. When I use something like this, it is Denosyl (Zentonil and Denosyl are both SAMe, but I like the company that makes Denosyl). Any unexplained elevation in liver enzymes and I personally would bile acids test my Yorkie, but that is me. And I would hold off on the spay. God forbid there is a problem that they have to go into the abdomen to fix/assess, the spay could be done at the same time. JMO. That said, this ALT is very low for being high. What does your vet say about the spay? |
He doesn't seem to be concerned about the spaying. I don't mind putting it off for 2 more months till she has finished a 60 day zentonil trail but then she most likely will have had her second heat. I don't know whether I should be concerned about her having another heat....thoughts??? |
what is a bile acid test??? |
