HELP!! ... Fleas Buster got fleas from the darn groomer!! Ugh I'm so mad! I took him there last Thursday and we found them on him this morning after he was itching and nibbling a lot. I don't know where else he could have gotten them from.. he hasn't been anywhere else... Anyone have any advice on what the best thing to do to get rid of them would be? I wanna call the groomer and b*tch... I'm def not taking him there EVER again! |
I've been battling them, too. I think my pup got them at the vet's office. She's on her second month of Frontline & has had one Capstar pill that kills all of the adult fleas on her for 24 hours. I think that gave her the boost she needed as she's been soooo much better since that. Basically vacuum the heck out of everything, wash his beds, any clothes, collars, harnesses & stay on the Frontline or something similar that your vet can recommend. I've heard both that it can take 3 months & 6 months of treatment before your home is free of them. As for the groomer I think it's pretty much out of her control, though I understand your frustration. Also you should wait at least 2 days following his bath to apply the meds then at least 2 more days before you bathe him again. I did the 2 day thing last month with no results, so waited 4 days this time. Not sure if that has anything to do with our growing success now. Good luck, it looks like those little devils are reeking havoc in a lot of homes this year.:thumbdown |
Is he on flea preventative? Honestly, it's probably not their fault. Dogs come in full of fleas. It's nearly impossible to make sure there are none crawling around there. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they try to control the problem. If your pups go to the groomers, they probably need to be on a monthly preventative. You could use Frontline or Frontline Plus, Advantage or Advanage II or Advantage with Program, Program and Capstar, Comfortis, etc. depending on if you want to get it over the counter, if you just want to kill the adults or if you want a growth regulator included so they can't reproduce, etc., etc. |
Our dog Kiwi had a flea problem about a month ago, we went and bought Advantix II from our local pet store and they were completely gone in 24 hrs! I was amazed! It kills all living fleas the pup comes in contact with and also kills the eggs as well. It is also safe for small dogs and puppy's 7 weeks and older so now little Lola is on it as well. Have not seen any fleas since! And it guards against ticks as well. Works wonders! |
Ashamed No he wasn't on anything bc the weather is getting colder... 100% our fault there.. but it just really suprised me that he got them from the groomer... just seemed ironic.. but after your posts i guess i can see now how it would happen.. I will spare her my wrath but I don't see myself taking him there again. My fiance and i are going to clean the heck out of our home... vaccum EVERYTHING.. wash EVERYTHING and pray we can get rid of them. Thanks for the comments |
Wish us luck! |
