Excessive Drinking Curiousity...And I think I already know the answer so forgive me sound stupid. But could a change of food or a transition of a differnt food cause excessive drinking. Like the salt content being too high and the dog is too sensative? Like I said, stupid questions. |
If it continues I would have it checked out. I just say that because we went through 2years of diabetes, 2 shots everyday and special food for my first schnauzer I had. They are also prone to diabetes, I don't know if yorkies are. He lived to be almost 14 and it liked to have killed me when I lost him. I would just have it checked out to be safe. |
I agree, if it continues, I would check with your vet. Max drank more water when I fed him higher protein foods. |
No question is a stupid question;) Lots of things can cause excessive drinking. Things like food change can certainly cause it and as someone mentioned diabetes , also cushings but something as simple as a bladder infection can also cause it. I would deff be making a vet appt though to rule out anything serious. |
Excessive drinking could be your dog trying to compensate for being dehydrated. When that happened to our Wheaten Terrier it was accompanied by excessive urinating. Definitely get it chacked out! Hopefully it is nothing but if it isn't then you can figure out a solution! |
