Infection Advice
 
I just noticed that my Yorkie's pee pee is enlarged and she is licking down there all the time. She is eating and drinking normally. What can this be?:rolleyes:

Unspayed female? She is probably in heat.

You're kidding? Boy I feel stupid. This is my 1st Yorkie and I have no clue. There is no blood yet.

How old is she?

Yorkies usually bleed very little, so you may see stains on blankets, but sometimes you won't see anything coming out down there. The smell of their breath can change too.

Nah, don't feel stupid. It's a new thing for you. Your girl really should be spayed before her second heat.

If for whatever reason this isn't what's going on, then she would need to see the vet.

I have noticed her breathe changing recently so that is probably what is going on. Thanks for your help. We would like for her to have 1 litter but not sure who to contact about that since she is so small (4 lbs) herself.

Really think carefully before breeding esp. If under 5 pounds.

Well, you can do whatever you want. She's your pup.

There are threads about breeding in the YT Library that would be good to read. And if your girl dies during the process, that's something you'll have to be able to accept. C-sections can be thousands. Pre-breed testing is tedious and expensive. Finding the right homes, bottle feeding if mom can't, etc. all needs to be considered.

If you really wanted to breed her there would be extensive research that you'd want to put into it to keep your girl and the pups healthy. A breeder on here could guide you in the right direction, but since she's so small it would probably be a little dangerous and she'd have to have a c-section (I've read a lot a posts where this had to happen). Is there a reason you wanted to breed her? If not, spaying her would be the healthiest option. Either way, lots of people on here are super helpful, good luck:thumbup::D
