anaesthetic reaction has anyone's pup ever had a reaction to anaesthetic? Tila was put under for an anal gland flush yesterday. It seemed to have went fine. She was able to come home. I had to work an evening shift last night and I got a message at about 6, my dad had to rush Tila in because he couldn't wake her up. He said she was limp, and her tongue was hanging out the side of her mouth. The gave her her shot to bring her around at the clinic, they did an evaluation after they got her to come around and she checked out fine. Gums were good, eyes were good, heart was good. She is home again and is well. I was so frantic, never been so scared. Was it some sort of reaction to it, or was she just given too much? I wasn't sure about putting her under for a flush, but she was not feeling well at all yesterday so I made an appointment to take her in right away yesterday and they kept her to give her the flush. |
How scary! I'm glad Tila is okay. Did she have general anesthesia or a heavy sedative for the flushing? |
On the invoice it says Tranquilizer(sedation)? I am thankful she is okay, I don't know what I would have done without her. This is partly my fault, I started my nursing program this week and couldn't leave class my dad took her to her appointment for me. I would have asked a million zillion questions to what they were giving her exactly and etc. But I am ever thankful my dad was home watching her and did all he did to get her to the clinic when he did. |
Your dad deserves several gold stars for being an excellent caretaker. :) I would get a copy of the vet report or at least the name of the sedative and dosage given and keep it in your own file for future reference in case Tila ever needs to be sedated again. You never know if you may need that info at your fingertips in the future, and you don't want to have to rely on getting records or someone double checking records. I would also discuss this episode with your vet and ask what he/she thinks may have caused this. |
Thank you. Yes, I will call the vet on Monday to talk to her about what happened. |
I'm glad to hear everything is ok. |
How scary. I am glad she is ok and Dad reacted quickly. |
