Halo Dog food. :aimeeyork Has anyone researched this dog food?? I've been checking into alot of brands that make healthy claims and see that they still fall short. Especially those that are vet reccommended. That concerns me. I have done my research with nutritionist who have dogs and know the things that are secret no no's of our so called nutritious brands. I know this food makes claims that it's healthy enough that a human can consume it, and that all ingredients are real meats, and not fillers, meals, etc. And the labels are as plain, not one ingredient you can't pronounce... Just would like your view. |
I don't feed Halo because it is grain-inclusive. Also, the only dog food that is legally able to market itself as "human-grade" is The Honest Kitchen. Halo MAY use human quality ingredients (like they state) but there is really no way to know for sure. FWIW, I don't think it's a bad choice of food. |
I personally don't feel there is one particular "brand" out there that is perfect. Every dog is different and every dog does better on something some dogs would do poorly on. I have always struggled with Taycie finding the best food possible for her. I have tried many top name holistic brands and while they worked ok for the most part other issues would always come into play. I think the best advice I have read was find something that works and stick with it. As far as Halo goes, I have tried some of their canned foods in the past but never the dry. I would email them. I would ask what vets they have on staff, who formulates the diets, what kind of Quality control procedures are in place. Where are they producing the food? Yes, I think ingredients are important, but I think there are also other important factors that come into play. I don't think its a horrible food. If you go just by ingredients it looks really good. But for me being able to trust a company is the most important thing. |
