Flea preventative in winter? Hello YT'ERS!!!! I have lola on Advantage, I live in NYC and from time to time I take her to Central Park and doggy parks, she also takes a walk everyday. This is my first dog and my first time living in the USA so I dont really know if the ticks and fleas disappear any time of the year, So my question is: Should I keep lola on flea medicine during fall and winter? or do you guys only give ur dogs that medicine during spring and/or summer?? And in case I have to give her medicine for fleas and ticks in fall and winter, should i keep giving her Advantage or should I change the brand?? Thank you YT'ERS!!!!:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa |
Advantage is what I use and I only use it as needed. There is no reason for them to be on flea prevention in the winter in our states where it is cold and there are no bugs. If you want to keep her on it monthly you will probably still need to keep her on it in the fall at least sept and oct since its warm then. Like I said I only do it as needed but I do it in Oct every year because thats our last warm month so I know they are taken care of brfore winter |
I am in RI and I keep mine on frontline at least every 3 months for fleas. I keep them on it monthly in warmer months for ticks. |
I don't seem to have a flea problem here. Never seen one before. Ticks, however, are another story. I keep him on Frontline through the fall/winter/early spring and K9 Advantix in the summer (when ticks are bad). I found a few ticks attached to him last December, those little suckers just won't go away! |
Thanks for the advise!!!:thumbup::thumbup: |
i frontline our dogs every month just to be sure! |
Ticks seem to be crazy here so I put advantix on Callie durning the the summer and then frontline the rest of the months. |
