need some dry food recommendations please... My yorkie is 3 years old, and has had little to no interest in his dry food (Merrick) we vary the flavors from bag to bag Grammy pot pie, cowboy cookout etc. He eats this food daily but only when it is mixed with I.D. canned food. Is there a brand of dry food that someone could recommend that may be more enticing yet healthy at the same time???? Your input is much appreciated |
Callie has never been a big fan of dry food but when I switched to Wellness Core she really loves it. I would try getting samples of different dog foods to try. I emailed wellness and they emailed me back and asked about my dog and what food I was interested in and they sent samples of what they suggested and the ones I was interested in. |
I think sometimes the more you vary, the pickier the dog gets. I personally find a food that I am comfortable feeding and the dogs eat it when they get hungry. Sometimes they will turn their nose up at a meal and I just take the food away and try again the next meal. |
My dogs eat Nature's Variety dry food. I usually feed them the chicken and brown rice formula. Sometimes I get another formula just for variety. My dogs love it, but then again I've never had any trouble with them eating. You can get a "try it" coupon on the Nature's Variety website if interested. |
Can't go wrong with Taste of the Wild IMO. Dori loves the Pacific Stream formula. We even use it for training. We don't free feed. If it's not gone in 1/2 hr., the next meal is 8 hrs. away. |
Curiousity, you said your furbaby eats the food when putting I.D. canned on it? Do you just want to get away all together from canned? Or simply canned I.D.? |
Butters is also picky but LOVED Orijen 6 Fish kibble. It was the only dry food he didn't tire of. |
Kimber gets a mix of Nutrience Small Breed and Royal Canin Yorkie (half half) - I know someone that mixed 1/2 tbsp of cottage cheese in with their dry food and that seemed to help. :) |
